Majestic Theatre - Gettysburg is rich in history, and now it's a place to enjoy a good musical or a play or even a world class orchestra. The new "Performing Arts & Cinema Center" opened at what was the old Majestic Theatre, which was the only movie theatre in town . It has been fully renovated and turned into a place for professional artists to perform, whether it be a dance, a string quartet or a full orchestra or any number of artistic venues. It's a place to enjoy the talents of many performers and it also helps the community of Gettysburg by bringing these events here for the citizens and visitors to enjoy. Adams County Historical Society -There are many great things to do at the Historical Society, make it part of your visit to Gettysburg. Housed in the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary, Adams County Historical Society, Gettysburg, is a look back at the history of Adams County and the Battle of Gettysburg. Lord Nelson's Gallery - Here's a great place to get a glimpse of Gettysburg Art. Not only will you enjoy the art but you'll also enjoy strolling through town. The event schedule are posted on their website at Lord Nelson's Gallery in downtown Gettysburg . For information call 1-800-664-9797.
Lutheran Seminary Cupola Tours - Sponsored and conducted by the Adams County Historical Society, the Cupola Tour is always an anticipated event. If you're a Civil War buff and want to see what General Bufford saw that hot July day in 1863, it's a must on your Gettysburg tour and for those who want to see the battlefield from a different and awsome vantage point, this is the place. Land Conservancy of Adams County - March 10, 2011 until April 17 is Land Conservancy Month. Check out their website for this years scheduled events. Land Conservancy of Adams County. Protecting the rural landscapes of Adams County and all of its communities is a worthwhile cause and as we'll see, it's also good fun.
Granite Hill Camping Resort - Start tapping your feet to the beat of the Gettysburg Annual Bluegrass Festival - May 12-15, 2011. A great favorite with our residents and visitors. If you love Bluegrass, you need to be here. Granite Hill Camping Resort is conviently located close to all the events in Gettysburg and the surrounding areas.
There's so much to see and due in Gettysburg and surrounding areas throughout the year and in the summer months as well, it's almost impossible to list them all here, but you can surely find something for you and your family to enjoy almost every day, so take a look at the events calendar of the Gettysburg Convention & Visitor Center and I'm sure you will not be dissappointed.
Adams County Arts Council - This is a 500-Member strong non-profit agency that supports artistic efforts throughout the county. Check out the 2011 calendar for all the upcoming events, sign up for classes! Let your imagination run wild and help out the community by donating to a great cause. Check out the Arts Council website for information on how you can get involved, learn how to bring out the artist in you, and attend some great events.
Gettysburg Festival- Keep your calendar open for the 2011 Gettysburg Festival events because this year, as in the past, you will be able to enjoy all of the festival for 10 days, June 10-19, 2011. You won't want to miss a day of these incredible events.
Gettysburg Tour Center - This is a unique experience for the entire family that will leave a lasting impression on you. A great way to spend time in Gettysburg is to take advantage of what I like to call "one stop shopping"; tour the battlefield in air conditioned busses, take in a lecture hosted by Gettysburg National Military Park, listen to a Ranger Presentation or listen to some beautiful music by a Chamber Orchestra. Annual Gettysburg Civil War Battle Reenactment - This is the 148th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and this year, as in the past, promises to be THE event to attend. Preparations are already underway, so reserve your space and get your tickets. For information click here.
Gettysburg Bike Week - This motorcycle event is a yearly favorite in Gettysburg, however, due to construction taking place in many areas of Gettysburg, the Parade of Bikes may be moved. Go to their website to read details on this years events and places.
Carlisle Car Shows & Events - This is one big event that draws so many car aficianado's to Carlisle, Pennsylvania every year. The shows are held at the Carlisle Fairgrounds, an 82-acre complex within easy driving distance from the Interstates and from Gettysburg and the surrounding areas. The show's website reads "the cars, the people, the excitement" and they aren't kidding. If you come into town for the car show, you won't be dissappointed if you can't see everything at the show in Carlisle because you will see these cars cruising up and down the streets of Gettysburg...keep an eye out for this and all events which begin in April and get your trip planned!
